A Social History of Weights and Measures, continued

Room 8 provides an intriguing look at the marketplace's dependence on accurate weights and measures.

The room was constructed by students in the Maryland Virtual High School of Science and Mathematics Summer Program.

In addition to learning how to design, write HTML code, and implement web pages, the students worked with NIST Museum and Library staff to research the topics presented in this room.

These topics --Milk, Odometers, Goods, and Gas Pumps-- illustrate some of the problems and some of the solutions.

It was a collaborative effort that we hope will start you thinking about how weights and measures affect our daily lives.
