Continuously Variable-Speed Friction Transmission - Model

This device can serve as a neutral or a variable-speed reverse or forward drive transmission for a small car. A straight-sided cone is in frictional engagement with a conical roller. The roller moves along a straight-line axis that passes through the apex of the cone. The cone is tilted about its apex to contact the roller as the speed ratio is changed.
