Mass Standards Constructed by Maryland Reflected in 25 lb. State Reference Standard

Standards distributed to the states by the Office of Weights and Measures (OWM) in the Coast Survey were termed "state reference standards." Each standard was marked with a number so that the results of comparisons between it and the prototype standard at OWM could be ascertained if the label accompanying the standard was lost. From these reference standards, states constructed city and county standards. |
