Railway Scale Test Car
This equipment was used by the Bureau in the
standardization of railroad
track master scales throughout the United States. The
Bureau rail car carried
eight 10,000 pound weights, four 2500 pound weights,
10,000 pounds of 50 pound
weights, and a truck for carrying the test load on the
rails, itself weighing about
5,000 pounds. Small auxilliary balances and weights were
also carried in the car
